I wasn't told by the doctor what my appointment was for. It turned out they wanted to dilate my eyes. I refused because it was 5:00 pm and it was too late in the evening. This was a waste of my time. If I knew this is what they were going to do I would have scheduled it for another day at an earlier time. They blamed it on Skokie Hospital. I was at Glen Brook Hospital. Their communication skills are horrible.

I am satisfied in general with my care at North Shore. Not too happy about not being able to see a specialist for months.

Provider/doctor seemed quite competent. Checking in I was told I needed a referral from my primary care doctor, even though I had been referred by another opthalmologist in the practice. She insisted that this was a new rule. I said that my primary care doctor knows nothing about my eyes. She said I should have five referrals sent in and that she would call the practice. In checking out, a more experienced person told her she was incorrect, but she has already called my internist and bothered that practice for no reason. Better training needed for front desk staff

I was very comfortable with Dr. M.--who was new to me. He explained all of the tests results in a very thorough and used "patient friendly" vocabulary. Also, I had to have a lot of tests before seeing him and I found his staff who took care of me were very friendly, professional and caring.
