The Perinatal Family Support Center Postpartum has support services available to obstetric patients who are referred during their pregnancy or the delivery admission, and deliver at NorthShore Evanston Hospital or Highland Park Hospital. Additionally, PFSC provides support to families whose baby was born at an outside hospital, and is subsequently transferred to our Infant Special Care Unit.
Perinatal Family Support Center's staff will help to guide families following the birth of their newborn to promote attachment and support a safe transition home.
The birth of an infant may exacerbate pre-existing patient or family stressors, and the PFSC staff are frequently asked to offer postpartum support to patients who are experiencing any of the following:
- Medical complications
- Preterm or complicated births
- Relationship concerns
- Family problems
- Financial distress
- Mental health issues
- Domestic violence
- Substance abuse
Patients and families are assessed to promote stabilization, linkage to community resources and successful transition to parenting.
Patients seeking postpartum support are welcome to self-refer by calling 847.570.2880.
