The four top 50 rankings are the most NorthShore has earned in the history of U.S. News & World Report’s annual assessment of the care provided by the nation’s hospitals.
In the 2023-24 edition, NorthShore ranks #13 in Diabetes & Endocrinology, #40 in Orthopedics, #42 in Neurology & Neurosurgery and #48 in Gastroenterology & GI Surgery. In U.S. News and World Report’s regional rankings, NorthShore maintained its #4 position in both the Illinois and Chicago metro area categories

The annual “Best Hospitals” rankings, now in their 34th year, recognize hospitals that excel in treating patients with the most challenging medical conditions. More than 4,500 hospitals nationwide were analyzed and ranked in 15 specialties and 21 procedures and conditions.
In addition to the U.S. News recognition, NorthShore recently received a maximum five stars in the updated Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings, which are based on five categories: mortality, safety, readmission, patient experience, and timely and effective care. Edward (Naperville) and Elmhurst Hospitals also received five stars.
