NorthShore is doing its part to help the public safely and responsibly dispose of unused pharmaceuticals with a new Medication Collection Kiosk. The kiosk is a safe, reliable and anonymous outlet for patients, employees and our communities to dispose of unused and expired medications including controlled substances. It is located inside the Skokie Hospital pharmacy. Hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday.
The following lists accepted and not accepted medications:
Accepted
- Unused or expired prescription medication* (including Schedule II-V controlled substances)
- Unused or expired over-the-counter medication*
- Pet medication*
*Lawfully possessed by the user
Not Accepted
- Illegal drugs including Schedule 1 controlled substances
- Needles/sharps
- Non-pharmaceutical items (e.g. thermometers, hydrogen peroxide)
