For individuals looking to gain experience in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology in anticipation of applying for a pathology residency, Endeavor-NorthShore Health offers two-week observerships in our Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Evanston Hospital. A typical observer would spend time in multiple areas to get as broad of an exposure as possible to the rotations pathology residents complete, including surgical pathology, autopsy pathology, microbiology, blood bank and others.

Requirements

Applicants must hold an MD or DO degree (or foreign equivalent with ECFMG certification) and be planning to apply for a residency in Pathology in the next application cycle.

Application Process

Applications for the 2025-2026 academic year will only be accepted between April 1 and May 17, 2025. 

• Limited observership opportunities are available between August - mid November and January - May.
• We do not have observership opportunities available in June, July, or December.

Applicants are expected to provide:

• Endeavor-NorthShore observership application form
• Current curriculum vitae
• USMLE or COMLEX transcript
• A letter of support/recommendation from a pathologist
