The physical toll of the COVID19 pandemic is readily viewable. Every day we see the numbers for people testing positive, being hospitalized and, sadly perishing. But there is another side to the pandemic that is less talked about but is at least as devastating. That is the emotional impact that the pandemic exacts on all of us.
The fear and uncertainty of what’s to come, the strain of social isolation, the worries about overwhelming financial problems and the pain and heartbreak of ourselves and our loved ones getting sick can feel like too much to bear.
Many people are deferring their healthcare needs out of fear that coming to the hospital risks exposure to the virus. We want you to know that NorthShore's Department of Psychiatry has a full array of services available via your phone or through videoconferencing. Just call our intake number at (847) 425-6400 and one of our staff will set you up with the appropriate level of care, all delivered without having to leave your home.
For many of us, living in a severe pandemic is like nothing we could ever have imagined. Don’t put off getting the emotional help that you need.
