Having high-quality healthcare available close to home is always reassuring.
Having healthcare that’s ranked among the best in the nation in your backyard is even better.
Pictured above: NorthShore Orthopaedic & Spine Institute specialty hospital in Skokie, which performs the most orthopedic surgeries of any hospital in Illinois (IHA COMPdata, 2022). NorthShore made the nation’s top 50 in U.S. News & World Report’s orthopedic rankings for the third year in a row.
NorthShore University HealthSystem (NorthShore) is ranked among the top 50 hospitals in the United States in four categories by U.S. News & World Report’s 2023-24 Best Hospitals Rankings and Ratings.
The annual “Best Hospitals” rankings, now in their 34th year, recognize hospitals that excel in treating patients with the most challenging medical conditions. More than 4,500 hospitals nationwide were analyzed and ranked in 15 specialties and 21 procedures and conditions.
In the 2023-24 edition, NorthShore ranks #13 in Diabetes & Endocrinology, #40 in Orthopedics, #42 in Neurology & Neurosurgery and #48 in Gastroenterology & GI Surgery.
So, what does this mean for patients?
Orthopaedics
NorthShore made the nation’s top 50 in U.S. News & World Report’s orthopedic rankings for the third year in a row, anchored by the NorthShore Orthopaedic & Spine Institute specialty hospital in Skokie, which performs the most orthopedic surgeries of any hospital in Illinois.
“Being nationally ranked in three out of the first four years as the only hospital in Illinois specializing in orthopaedic and spine care is a testament to our world-class physicians and the dedication and hard work of our team members,” said David Rahija, PT, MPT, MBA, FACHE, President, NorthShore Skokie Hospital, NorthShore Institutes. “The NorthShore Orthopaedic & Spine Institute team is humbled and inspired to continually raise the bar in orthopaedic and spine outcomes and how musculoskeletal care is delivered.”
The dedicated focus on each patient as an individual is an essential part of the team’s success.
“We are honored to be selected again as one of the top orthopaedic programs. A tremendous amount of hard work and dedication to our patients is given by every person, every day on our team and we are proud that their work has been recognized for the third year in a row,” says Jason Koh, MD, MBA, Mark R. Neaman Family Chair of Orthopaedic Surgery and Director, NorthShore Orthopaedic & Spine Institute. “Our focus at the NorthShore Orthopaedic & Spine Institute is on the patient’s specific condition. Gastroenterology and GI Surgery
NorthShore’s gastroenterology and GI surgery departments take a multidisciplinary approach, with more than 50 board-certified physicians and expert surgeons providing the highest quality care.
The reason the departments are ranked in the top 50 in the nation is simple: The providers are second to none.
“The providers at NorthShore are not only taking wonderful care of sick people, they’re contributing new knowledge to the field that’s being recognized at a national level. This gives patients confidence that they’re seeing people who are truly leaders in the field,” said Mark Talamonti, MD, Stanton and Margaret Rogers Palmer Chairman of Surgery, NorthShore.
