Did you know that your heart is a muscle that needs to be exercised?
Revving up your heart rate through exercise or doing something you enjoy, like dancing or walking briskly, helps build up aerobic fitness. Our bodies learn to move oxygen and blood into our muscles more efficiently.
Here, NorthShore Cardiologist Philip B. Krause, MD, shows how he likes to exercise his heart: Drumming.
Remember to check with your doctor before starting any exercise. For more information or to schedule an appointment with a cardiologist, check out the NorthShore Cardiovascular Institute.
