NorthShore’s online source for timely health and wellness news, inspiring patient stories and tips to lead a healthy life.

This Hispanic Heritage Awareness Month we are celebrating NorthShore's LatinX chefs with recipes of their own creation! First up...Croquetas Medianoche!
What are Croquetas?Croquetas are bites that can include a variety of fillings, however, ground ham coated in breadcrumbs is one of the most popular. These ham croquettes (or Croquetas de Jamon) are very similar to the ingredients you could find in a classic Cubano sandwich - ham, pickles, cheese - however in bite-sized form.
Try this as a breakfast item or appetizer! Or, according to NorthShore’s Chef Alexander, who provided this recipe, it's the perfect “Midnight Snack!”
For this dish, NorthShore’s chef Alexander creates golf-ball-sized fritters that are served with a mustard dipping sauce, saltine crackers, and lime for the perfect bite.
