Did you know that Highland Park Hospital has three certified nurse-midwives (CNMs) working in collaboration with seven OB/GYN physicians and staff to offer an integrated team approach to pregnancy, labor and delivery?
Referred to as the “North Pod,” CNMs Kimberly Bloomcamp, MSN, APRN-CNM; Simone Bonde, MSN, APRN-CNM, and Donna Warder, DNP, MS, CNM, FNP-BC, APRN-CNM, see patients in Deerfield, Gurnee, Highland Park, Mt. Prospect, Round Lake Beach and Vernon Hills medical group offices.
Expectant moms are encouraged to see both the CNMs and the physicians for their prenatal care. During prenatal appointments, the CNMs have longer appointment times to allow for discussion of childbirth preparation, what to expect in labor and delivery, and the development of a plan for labor and childbirth.
“During labor and delivery, CNMs are supportive of a woman’s choice in how they would like to labor and give birth,” said Warder. “CNMs provide labor support for women who need it and specialize in low-risk women who desire a lower intervention approach to birth. Outside of pregnancy, we also provide postpartum care, lactation support, and contraception in addition to wellness care and problem care for women from adolescence through menopause.”
