Treatment Philosophy
“I believe in working collaboratively with my patients - listening to, communicating with, and educating them so they can return to the highest level of function possible.”.
Dr. Garo Emerzian is a board certified podiatric surgeon in foot surgery and reconstructive rear foot and ankle surgery. As a doctor of podiatric medicine, practicing at IBJI for almost 20 years, he diagnoses and treats both simple and complex foot and ankle conditions. His practice covers a broad spectrum of care from conservative to surgical care for nail disorders, hammer toes, bunions, heel pain, nerve problems, and flat foot deformities to fractures and arthritis of the foot and ankle.
Dr. Emerzian treats his patients with the same care and attention he would give to his own family.
Personal Interests
A former division 1 football player, Dr. Emerzian sustained foot and ankle injuries which helps him fully understand the issues, concerns and treatment associated with these injuries. In addition to his football injuries, he also has his own experience with a flat foot deformity, enabling him to relate personally to his patients condition and issues associated with this foot type.
Dr. Emerzian has served as an instructor and lecturer for the Illinois Podiatric Medical Society and has also participated in the training of residents. In 1997, Dr. Emerzian played an active role in Healing the Children, a medical mission to Guatemala where he treated children with foot and ankle deformities.
For the past 10 years, he has served as an assistant varsity football coach at Deerfield High School. He also enjoys spending time with his family and watching his children participate in their activities and sports. His hobbies are working out, playing basketball and golfing.
