Pharmacy

Endeavor Health NorthShore Hospitals (formerly known as NorthShore University HealthSystem) has six residency programs:

Post Graduate Year 1 (PGY1) Programs

Post Graduate Year 2 (PGY2) Programs

The Pharmacy Department

The Pharmacy Department provides a variety of services across the continuum of care. Inpatient services are provided by decentralized (unit-based) pharmacists. Distribution is through automated dispensing cabinets and centralized IV preparation.

Ambulatory services are currently provided through our outpatient pharmacies, oncology clinic pharmacies, home infusion pharmacy, anticoagulation clinics, and general medicine clinic.

Our philosophy is that all pharmacists need to be in a position to promote pharmaceutical care by:

  • Influencing drug-therapy decisions
  • Educating health care professionals and students
  • Ensuring appropriate drug therapy outcomes
  • Educating patients to ensure positive outcomes of drug therapy

We begin accepting applications in the fall of each year. Thank you for your interest in our training programs.

Program Information

All residency program candidates must be graduates or candidates for graduation of an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE)- accredited degree program (or one in process of pursuing accreditation) or have a Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Examination Committee (FPGEC) certificate from the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP) prior to the start date of the residency program. At a minimum, the program must be a five-year pharmacy degree program. PGY2 residency program candidates must also complete an ASHP accredited or candidate-status PGY1 residency program prior to the start date of the residency program. The candidate will be asked to submit proof of each before the first day of residency. All candidates must also be able to work legally as a full-time salaried employee in the United States on their own accord. Any visas that the candidate has must be inclusive of all days in the residency year, and it is the responsibility of the candidate to maintain active legal status. All residency candidates will need to supply documents as requested on Form I-9 (U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services) prior to hire.
