Spiritual Care and Support

Our clinically trained, board-certified chaplains from the Spiritual Care and Support Department offer support to engage the spiritual dimension of people (their beliefs, faith, culture, values and religious practices) to foster healing, growth and wellbeing.  When faced with times of stress, illness and crisis, people often draw closer to their spirituality. Support from the Chaplain can play a major role in the healing process and can help patients and their loved ones through challenges associated with illness or injury. NorthShore’s Chaplains offer support that is respectful of each patient’s spirituality, religious beliefs, privacy and dignity.

To reach a Chaplain or to request Spiritual Care and Support services at Skokie Hospital, please call 847.933.6433. The Chaplain is available 24 hours per day, seven days per week.

As patients and families you have the right to have effective communication regarding your care and treatment in a language and communication device that you understand.

In-person Language Interpreters and Sign Language Interpreters are provided free of charge for patients with limited English proficiency and those who are hearing impaired. Phone-based language interpretation is available at all times for all languages, as well as telecommunication devices for the hearing/sight impaired.

Please ask your nurse or caregiver to arrange for assistive communication services/aids should you need medical care at any of our NorthShore locations.
