Patient Education Program

The Total Joint Replacement Center's comprehensive Patient Education Program guides patients through the entire process of total joint replacement, from preparation for surgery through the completion of rehabilitation and recovery. All patients attend a class prior to surgery conducted by our specially trained nurses. Through personalized training and detailed materials, patients are instructed in ways to achieve the best outcomes both before and after joint replacement surgery.

The Center's highly skilled staff works with orthopaedic surgeons to ensure that each patient—and their family members and caregivers—has a comprehensive understanding of both the surgery and post-operative rehabilitation. This comprehensive training has shown to decrease risk of complications and surgical site infections, making for an easier hip and knee replacement recovery.

We understand that each patient also has a unique set of needs and circumstances. We use the pre-surgery education to help with planning to meet these needs. Our Patient Education Program provides a unique opportunity for staff and patients to get to know each other, establishing familiarity with the process, the hospital and the care team. This familiarity can help ease anxiety that is natural prior to any surgery.
